Our Day Center Mission:
STABILIZE → CONNECT → PROGRESS
We are not creating a place for people to simply pass time.
We are creating a place where people can rebuild their lives.
For the past year and a half, Sunday Suppers has been far more than a weekly meal.
Every Sunday, we provide meals, showers, clothing, and a safe place where people are treated with dignity and respect.
In practice, we have already been operating as a one-day-a-week Day Center — and it has worked.
What We Already Do
🍽 Hot meals
🚿 Showers
🧺 Laundry
🧼 Hygiene supplies
✂️ Haircuts
🏠 A safe, welcoming environment
🤝 Human connection and dignity
We’ve built trust, consistency, and a model that supports real stability.
Now we’re ready to take the next step.
WHAT’S CHANGING
What continues:
- Meals
- Showers
- Laundry
- Hygiene supplies
- Haircuts
- A safe, welcoming environment
- Community connection
What we’re adding:
- Expanded case management capacity
- Mail services
- Housing navigation
- Employment support
- Documentation and benefits assistance
WHY WE’RE EXPANDING
Every Sunday, we meet people who are trying to move forward but don’t have the support they need during the week.
They need:
- A safe place to be
- Access to showers and laundry
- Help with paperwork and documentation
- Guidance navigating housing and employment
- A consistent, supportive environment
One day a week isn’t enough. A multi-day Day Center fills that gap.
WHY IT MATTERS
Marysville currently has no general-population Day Center.
Without a stable daytime option:
⚠️ Crisis increases
🚓 Police and EMS calls rise
⛔ People remain stuck
🏪 Businesses feel the impact
💸 Public costs grow
A Day Center increases stability and reduces strain on emergency systems.
COST IMPACT
- Cost per chronically unhoused individual: $30,000–$50,000/year
- Day Center cost per person: $450–$1,200/year
This is one of the most cost-effective public safety strategies available.
HOW IT WORKS
A Structured, Purpose‑Driven Environment
Our Day Center will operate with clear expectations, guided activities, and staff-directed engagement. This is the same structure we’ve already maintained successfully every Sunday.
What “structured” means
- Intake and check‑in
- Case management touchpoints
- Scheduled services
- Housing and employment appointments
- A code of conduct
- Staff presence throughout the space
- Clear expectations and accountability
People don’t come to pass time — they come to make progress.
HOW WE’RE FUNDING THE DAY CENTER
We are building a diversified funding model to support both launch and long-term sustainability.
- Individual donors
- Local businesses
- Faith partners
- Foundations
- Corporate sponsors
- County partnerships
- Community Development Block Grants (CDBG)
This approach ensures the Day Center is stable, accountable, and built to last.
